Everyone’s got a junk drawer, even The Clutter Queen! So, how does one declutter and organize a junk drawer? The secrets will be revealed below.
It’s mostly about CATEGORIZING!
Here’s how: Clear the kitchen counter near your junk drawer, and bring a trash bag nearby so that it’s easy to access.
Dump the contents of the junk drawer onto the kitchen counter. Using both hands, begin to sort the items by category Don’t forget to move quickly, because it doesn’t need to be a perfect sort! You can also save time by sliding items into categories, rather than picking up each one.
Use categories such as:
• writing instruments
• matchbooks and lighters
• rubber bands and paper clips
• coupons
• loose change
• soy sauce and ketchup packets
• miscellaneous
Then ‘visit’ each category and toss out everything you don’t need or want — right into the trash. You can place the remaining items back in the drawer — by category. Now, don’t expect it to stay in order. It won’t. Just sort it again in a month or two.
Easy!
