THE CLUTTER QUEEN – FAQs
Why should I hire a professional organizer when my mother has agreed to help me declutter every weekend?
Many people try to declutter and organize with the help of their mom, a spouse, or a friend. But these sessions can quickly veer off into reminiscing, or simply end after a short time. It’s just about impossible to reach a successful conclusion. Bring in a pro. When time and money are on the table, everyone rises to the occasion. Let’s get your project done!
What is the first step?
We will have a chat on the phone — a free consultation of up to 30 minutes long — in which you will describe your goals, and the Queen will explain how the process works. Then we make an appointment to begin the work. Many of our projects wrap up in just one session.
Do I need to participate in the process?
You bet you do! You will be making the decisions about which items to keep and which not to keep. The Clutter Queen will guide the process, and her team will do most or all of the physical work. We will help you sort your items — keep, donate, discard — and then we organize the ‘keepers’. We take away most donations, and bag up the trash for your disposal.
How long does a declutter project take?
The time we spend depends on three factors: the number of items we will be handling, the types of items (papers, for instance, take a bit longer than objects), and our client’s ability to make decisions about the items. As a ballpark estimate, a moderately cluttered bedroom can take 2-3 hours.
Should I clean my home in preparation?
Nope. There is nothing you need to do in preparation except have a good supply of tall white plastic bags on hand.
What storage solutions should I buy?
Lots of clients ask this question. The answer is: NONE. Once we declutter, many clients end up with lots of empty bins. It’s declutter first, organize last. If you need some storage, the Queen can advise you at the end of the project.
Which forms of payment do you accept?
Checks, Venmo, Zelle, cash, and major credit cards.
Would you declutter my place in London or the Bahamas?
Sure! If you pay our way and put us up. But seriously, we primarily service the Greater Boston area. Occasionally, we work outside our normal geographic range.
Is the Clutter Queen insured?
Yes. We are bonded too!
Finally, what if I have a client or a relative who needs decluttering?
Email us and let’s have a chat about it!
