The Clutter Queen, a professional organizer, has been helping Greater Bostonians reduce or eliminate their clutter for the last 25 years. A former magazine and newspaper journalist, the Queen is accustomed to organizing words in sentences. Now, she will apply her organizational and decluttering magic to your home or office.
Origins of an Organizer
The Queen was never a packrat, but she admits to keeping birthday cards from years gone by, clothing she hadn’t worn in years, and furniture she no longer enjoyed. Then one day in the late 1990s, the Queen read a book on feng shui — “Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui” by Karen Kingston. (Feng shui is the Chinese practice of arranging one’s environment to enhance well-being.) In addition, she read several books on clutter. She was intrigued!
So, she started decluttering the top of the refrigerator. This is the spot in almost everyone’s home that attracts all manner of junk. When she began sorting through the stuff, she was off to the races! She felt a lightness and sense of freedom that was exhilarating.
Hooked on Decluttering
And she spent the next two months lining the sidewalk each trash day with items she had decided to discard (this was in the days before recycling became popular). Then she realized she could help others do the same. So she became a professional organizer, based in Boston.
She knows what it’s like to break the connection between yourself and a once-beloved object.
But Why Should I Declutter?
Furthermore, clutter can increase anxiety, upset your kids, encourage spending on unneeded items, and even wreck your diet.
Lastly, the Queen’s philosophy is simple: The only thing standing between you and a serene environment is your decisions to let go of items you no longer need or want. Today is the day you end the clutter!
But Who is The Clutter Queen?
The Queen is also known as Rhea Becker, a former award-winning journalist with publication credits in People magazine and The Boston Globe. She edited the Harvard University Gazette and Emerson College’s Expression magazine.
